Our Biggest Worry

Hello SALTies!
We just started posting summaries of what we learn during Youth Hour. It is handy for everyone especially for those who missed it. This is what we learned on last Saturday (19.06.2010)
Serena shared with us about a little something that is called "Our Biggest Worry"

-Everyone shared their current biggest worry in life. All of us who were present participated in this.
-Everyone has their own personal worry such as jobs, exams, school and even our future.
-Then everyone shared our own proudest achievement in life and then we were asked what would make it better. Reason:

• We often wish things could be better than what we have/not satisfied with what we achieved.

-Different stages of life have different concerns. Eg:

• A baby only has to worry about milk when hungry
• A school student worries about waking up early in the morning to go to school and of course, exams.
• An adult worries about his workplace, incomes, etc.

-Different individuals have their own worries even they are at the same age.
-We should provide support for one another by talking and giving council to build a good support among us
-The bible even told us to edify one another, encourage and to support as it will help us to grow.
-To overcome worries and concerns consult someone who might have went through the same situation that we are in. A youth leaders, church leaders, pastor, etc..
-We should also incline or ears to God's voice by reading His words and praying.
-God will help us through the Holy Spirit. It comes by our conscience and also conviction.
-We should talk to God in order to form a good relationship with Him.
-Before making any decision, we should consult God for wisdom.
-We should do our parts too. Ex: If someone prayed to score an 'A' for a subject, he should study and God will make a way to help him.
-At times we feel that God isn't answering our prayers. It is because God knows the best timing for everything.
-Have patience when you pray for something.

This would be a good guideline for those who went back to school after a two-week holiday. God bless you all and see you all next week . ^^

Hour 5- the Foundation (the Fear of God)

This is a summary on what we learnt last saturday (12.06.2010)
This is a part of our 12 hour series, Driven By Eternity.

The Fear of the Lord

- is not being afraid of God
ex: hiding ourselves from God

-the Manifestation of the Fear of God is obedience

- But the Fear of God helps us keep all of His commandments at all times (Deu 5:29)

- the fear of God keeps us from sinning (Heb. 3:13)

- The Fear of the Lord is the begining of wisdom and knowledge

Prayer for the WORLD

Question : is world revival possible?
Ans: If world war is possible, why not a world revival?
Yes, indeed.

Last saturday, Aunty Doris shared on prayer for the world.

This is a summary on what we have learnt.

We have to be convinced the God is great!
We reach them out there by our personal testimonies.
We should allow the Holy Spirit on us to be active.
We've got to listen to His voice
The only way we're gonna get a revival is if we let it be apart of us

- Live, breathe, eat and drink it!
Remember, with every trophie, we become stronger.

Let's keep that in mind as we continue to pray for a revival in this world.

WEEKEND RETREAT

Hi guys!
How’s the holiday coming along? Good?
Well, for those who did not attend the WEEKEND RETREAT at Sunway Cheras last Friday, I know you guys are waiting to hear about it! We had a marvelous time together didn't we guys?

WEEKEND RETREAT 18th – 19th September

Friday, 18th September
First, we all gathered at Pastor Joel’s house at about 7.30 pm, played TABOO a while then, we headed to the Cheras Church for prayer meeting. It was the first time for a few of us. We had a good time of testimony & prayer request with the Cheras saints.
After that, everyone’s tummy was growling. We needed FOOD! So, we headed to get some at a nearby Chinese Restaurant. We had a great time catching up with one another while filling our tummies. Then we called it a day and headed to bed.

Saturday, 19th September
By 8 everyone was up and about getting ready for the day. We had a lovely breakfast. Thank you Aunty Doris for the perfect milo, tea, and coffee . Our breakfast was filled with so much stories & laughter. Then at 9.30 we had a time of worship which then continued with a message from Sis Lorraine. Her message was based on a scripture from 2 Thessalonians 2. She explained the meaning of the context and she shared on how God, back in the days revealed Himself to us as the God of provision, but NOW, He wants to reveal Himself to us in this generation as the God of Love. And He wants to use us, the youths of this generation to be the “hands and feet” for His love to be spread to the lost and hungry ones out there. He wants to have a great end time revival as the latter rain will be greater than everything that has ever been seen. But everything boils down to the passion we have towards Him. If we could be able to embrace His love for us, nothing will be able to hold us back form being the explosive dynamite of our time. The beautiful spirit of God swept that place and we dwelt in awe of His glory.
We headed for lunch at GAIA.. hehe.. a yummy restaurant! After that delicious lunch, we headed back to Kepong.

All in all, we had a memorable retreat. We are now equipped with more of God's word.

To Be Successful

Hi buddies!

Today’s a holiday! Yay!:) Anyway, to those who did not attend last week’s youth gathering, here’s what we did.. To those who came, it will be good to read it again and remember to apply it in our life.

Pastor Leow’s topic was “To Be Successful” He gave an example of a successful person in the bible, King David. Everyone would definitely want to be a successful person someday, but first, establishing a good solid relationship with God will only lead you to true success. Here are 3 points that Pastor Leow stressed on:

1 You have to Get to know God!
You can get closer with Jesus through prayer, fasting and by reading the word.
2 You have to live under authority.
This means you have to be subjected to your parents, the word of God, your pastor & leadership. We have to honor and respect them. We should not rebel against them because rebellion is a sin of witchcraft!
3 Don’t be influenced by the world!
Remember that we are all in the world but not of the world. Don’t be conformed any longer to the patterns of the world. (Romans 12:2) Be influenced by God not the world!

Pastor Leow also shared many of his own experience of submitting to God and living under authorities. He also told us some really amazing stories of how God blessed him & his family. Because he submitted himself and followed the word of God, he is now a good example of a successful man of God.

His sharing has definitely inspired me and of course to all of us too! :)

We ended our Youth Hour by completing our hand made prayer clock. The week before, Jinho shared about Prayer. He taught us a guide to pray.

All in all, we had a great time learning the word of God.

are you DRUNK enough?

How can our spiritual lives be related with the life of a drunkard? Or rather, what can we learn from their lifestyle that can enhance our personal spiritual walk in Christ?

Well, this was the topic that our dear Sharon Marie shared last weekend. We started of with a time of fellowship and games followed by praise and worship. This is a few things I would like to share on this interesting topic that she shared last weekend.

Being “drunk” means to be under the influence of something, which most commonly is associated with alcohol. Similarly, our lives ought to always be led by the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Firstly, a drunkard is never alone. They’re always with their “kaki botol” buddies when they get drunk and are having a jolly good time. We ought to be just like that, always with our brothers and sisters in Christ, worshiping and fellowshipping together.

To a drunkard, everything is beautiful. Therefore, he looks at everything and he sees the beauty in it. We all should take off our sunglasses of criticism and look at everyone as being specially made by God. We’d also take pleasure in serving in the church.

A drunkard also experiences hangover. It is the after effects of the reducing alcohol in their system. Similarly, we have to constantly replenish ourselves as we tend to drift away from the His ways. That’s why we have to always read his word and have an on-going relationship with Him.

So let us all remember to be always spiritually inclined to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Saturday Review

Hello everyone,

Hope that you're all doing great! Here's a quick review of what happened the last week during our weekly youth gathering.

We started off with a time of testimony, to hear what are some of the good things God has done in our lives the past week. After that we went in to praise and worship session. It's always great to be able to do so for our God. :)

Joanna and Vanessa then went on to share with us about the importance of encouragement. We learnt about the importance of encouragement in our daily lives, and how as often as possible we need to exalt one another, as it is said in Hebrews 3:13. Also like how in Acts 9: 23-27, how Barnabas exalted Saul while no one believed that he was now a disciple.

So everyone, remember to always encourage and support your family and friends! :)


After the teaching, we had a surprise Birthday and Farewell party for Henndrie! We all had some delicious food prepared for everyone and it was a blast!

To Henndrie,

Have a safe trip back.

We pray that Jesus will guide you and

Saturday Review

Hi guys!..

How has your week been going? Good ?

Excellent I’m sure!
Anyway, here’s what we did last Saturday..

We started out with a time of worship then we continued with a game. We played “charades “this time. It was really hilarious seeing one another trying to act out weird sentences! But it was a good ice breaker though.. :)

Then, we broke into 2 groups for bible study. The topic for lesson 1 was “GOD and YOU – the intimate relationship”. We talked about how we perceive God and how does God perceive us. Although human beings appear so insignificant, God wants a personal relationship with each of His creation. We then learned about what hinders this relationship, SIN.. and how God’s love found a way! It was indeed a great bible study.

We ended our gathering with music classes! Yup, we broke into 3 groups. One was the guitar lessons, the other was the piano and drum lessons. O, and there was a rubix lesson too ! It was really fun learning from one another! J We definitely learned something!

Saturday Review

Hey guys! Hope that you're all doing well.
Here is a recap of what happened the past Saturday.

July 11th
We started off with a time of testimony, sharing with one another the good things God has done for us. After that we had a time of praise and worship. :)

After that, the youth were surprised when we were asked to do some community service by picking up rubbish outside the church. Why? Hint: It has something to do with the topic of the day. Haha, we all laughed and cried together, but it was still had lots of fun. :)

Charissa then shared with us a message on Talents. On the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14-30, we learned that talents were very valuable in those days, as each talent represented a large sum of money. 3 Servants were given talents by their master, and all but one went out and multiplied their talents for their master. The 2 were then praised by their masters, but the one who did not do anything with his talent and had it taken from him.

Just like the 3 servants, we were all given talents by God, but we need to use it for God's Kingdom and to bless others, not keep it to ourselves. Picking up rubbish was just one of the ways we can use our talents. :) We were then asked to make a list of all our talents and how we can use them for God's Kingdom.

It was another great gathering for the youth, so do join us every Saturday to hear the message God has for us!!

Hope you had a great week so far!
Here’s a quick review on the very exciting last two youth gatherings.

27th JUNE
We started off with a fun ice breaker, then we had a time of praise & worship which was then continued with a great message by Pastor Joel on Prayer! He emphasize on what the meaning of prayer is, why do we need to pray and how to pray..

We learned a lot didn’t we guys? So lets remember that prayer is not all about asking God for what we want, its way more than that..! The ultimate way is to do it out of LOVE :)

4th JULY!

We started of with a time of testimony. We all definitely did have something good to share about the great things Jesus had done!

Then was a good sharing by Vanessa on Loneliness. We must always remember that loneliness is only a state of mind, not a life sentence.We also discussed ways on overcoming loneliness..

• Love yourself, for we are accepted!
• Avoid dependency on others
• Thankfullness
  
  We ended with a free face-to-face tutorial on how to fix a rubix in 2 minutes! By the professional Neville! We all tried learning from him but fail to because he is just simple too fast & good! He does it really fast!

Park Trip - event flashback

Hey everyone..
This is a little update on our recent outdoor activity,
THE PARK TRIP.

Early that morning, we gathered at church as we waited for all the youths to arrive. With the help of the parents, we reached our destination in no time. We managed to pick a shady spot that overlooked that beautiful lake.

We started our day of with FOOD n’ FELLOWSHIP.

After filling up our tummies, we sang a few songs of praise and worship. It was wonderful, just to be able to praise and worship God in that beautiful weather and atmosphere.

THEN…
We played a few games to kick start the fun.

After a short break, we decided to get back on our feet to have more fun.
Yeah…..
The game of football eventually turned into being a free tutorial lesson for the girls on “How to Kick a Ball”.


At noon, we started packing up.
Singing joyfully as we strut down the streets of Kepong, we left the park and headed back to church.

What a memorable day! A big thank you to all the parents who have contributed in all ways.
And to all the SALT-ies, we did it. But most of all, praise God for allowing everything to turn out beautifully.
