Text:Luke 10:27

In the parable of the Good Samaritan, beaten and left for dead, a traveler reached out to those that passed by. The elite of that day simply acknowledged his dire circumstances with a haughty look, walked around him, and went about their business. The Samaritan, considered the lower class of that day, was the only one who showed compassion and helped the poor injured man. We as young people become so busy that we fail to see those that we meet each day. They are bruised, battered, and hurting. Yet we give them a slight, derogatory look instead of acknowledging their existence. In Luke 10:27, Jesus commanded: "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself." First, we are instructed to love the Lord, and then our neighbour. Your neighbour is everyone you meet daily. Take time to acknowledge their presence, whether it is with a smile or a greeting. You may be their only connection to finding eternal life!

Hi guys!
How’s the holiday coming along? Good?
Well, for those who did not attend the WEEKEND RETREAT at Sunway Cheras last Friday, I know you guys are waiting to hear about it! We had a marvelous time together didn't we guys?

WEEKEND RETREAT 18th – 19th September

Friday, 18th September
First, we all gathered at Pastor Joel’s house at about 7.30 pm, played TABOO a while then, we headed to the Cheras Church for prayer meeting. It was the first time for a few of us. We had a good time of testimony & prayer request with the Cheras saints.
After that, everyone’s tummy was growling. We needed FOOD! So, we headed to get some at a nearby Chinese Restaurant. We had a great time catching up with one another while filling our tummies. Then we called it a day and headed to bed.

Saturday, 19th September
By 8 everyone was up and about getting ready for the day. We had a lovely breakfast. Thank you Aunty Doris for the perfect milo, tea, and coffee . Our breakfast was filled with so much stories & laughter. Then at 9.30 we had a time of worship which then continued with a message from Sis Lorraine. Her message was based on a scripture from 2 Thessalonians 2. She explained the meaning of the context and she shared on how God, back in the days revealed Himself to us as the God of provision, but NOW, He wants to reveal Himself to us in this generation as the God of Love. And He wants to use us, the youths of this generation to be the “hands and feet” for His love to be spread to the lost and hungry ones out there. He wants to have a great end time revival as the latter rain will be greater than everything that has ever been seen. But everything boils down to the passion we have towards Him. If we could be able to embrace His love for us, nothing will be able to hold us back form being the explosive dynamite of our time. The beautiful spirit of God swept that place and we dwelt in awe of His glory.
We headed for lunch at GAIA.. hehe.. a yummy restaurant! After that delicious lunch, we headed back to Kepong.

All in all, we had a memorable retreat. We are now equipped with more of God's word.

A king's 3 wishes

On his deathbed, a monarch realises crucial lessons about life.

AFTER conquering many kingdoms, the great Greek king Alexander was returning home when he fell seriously ill. Nothing his generals did could cure him.
With death staring him in the face, Alexander realized how his conquests, his great army, his sharp sword and all his wealth were of no value to him as he lay waiting to breathe his last.
All he wanted then was to go home, see his mother’s face and bid her a fond farewell.
But knowing that he would not have time to reach his distant homeland, he summoned his generals and told them:
“I will depart from this world soon. I have three wishes which you must carry out without fail.”
With tears flowing down their cheeks, all his men could do was nod.
“My first desire is that my physicians alone must carry my coffin.”
After a long pause, the king continued, “When my coffin is being carried to the grave, the path leading to the graveyard should be strewn with the gold, silver and precious stones which I have in my treasury.”
Quite exhausted by then, he said softly: “Finally, after I’m gone, let both my hands dangle out of my coffin.”
The people who had gathered around the king wondered about his strange requests. But no one dared ask about the rational behind them.
Alexander’s favorite general then kissed his hands and pressed them to his heart.
“I assure your highness that your wishes will be fulfilled. But why?
At this the ailing monarch took a deep breath and said: “I would like the world to know the three lessons I have just learn.
“I want my physicians to carry my coffin because people should realise that no doctor can cure every ailment.
“Doctors cannot save a person from the clutches of death. So let not people take life for granted.
“Strewing gold, silver and other riches along the path to the graveyard will serve to remind everyone that I might have spent my life accumulating riches, but I cannot even take a piece of gold with me when I die.
“So let people realize that it is a sheer waste of time to chase wealth.
“As for the final wish to leave my hands dangling out of the coffin, I want people to know that I came empty-handed into this world and I will leave the same way.”
With these words, the king closed his eyes as death conquered him

To Be Successful

Hi buddies!

Today’s a holiday! Yay!:) Anyway, to those who did not attend last week’s youth gathering, here’s what we did.. To those who came, it will be good to read it again and remember to apply it in our life.

Pastor Leow’s topic was “To Be Successful” He gave an example of a successful person in the bible, King David. Everyone would definitely want to be a successful person someday, but first, establishing a good solid relationship with God will only lead you to true success. Here are 3 points that Pastor Leow stressed on:

1 You have to Get to know God!
You can get closer with Jesus through prayer, fasting and by reading the word.
2 You have to live under authority.
This means you have to be subjected to your parents, the word of God, your pastor & leadership. We have to honor and respect them. We should not rebel against them because rebellion is a sin of witchcraft!
3 Don’t be influenced by the world!
Remember that we are all in the world but not of the world. Don’t be conformed any longer to the patterns of the world. (Romans 12:2) Be influenced by God not the world!

Pastor Leow also shared many of his own experience of submitting to God and living under authorities. He also told us some really amazing stories of how God blessed him & his family. Because he submitted himself and followed the word of God, he is now a good example of a successful man of God.

His sharing has definitely inspired me and of course to all of us too! :)

We ended our Youth Hour by completing our hand made prayer clock. The week before, Jinho shared about Prayer. He taught us a guide to pray.

Here a picture of a sample prayer guide
Working hard to make a good prayer clock

Everyone proud of their hand-made prayer clock :)

TQ Cynthia for donating a monopoly set to the youths… :)

All in all, we had a great time learning the word of God.

Do join us next week at 4.30 pm – 2nd Sanctuary for an exciting time!

JESUS bless you!
